RUAG develops economical EASA STC for ADS-B Out update for Dassault Falcon 2000 and 2000EX
RUAG Aviation announces it has earned European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Supplemental Type Certification (STC) for the Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast Out update as mandated by both EASA and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The upgrade solution was purpose-developed to be fast and economical, and can be implemented with minimum downtime. The STC is available for upgrades to Dassault Falcon 2000 and 2000EX platforms working on Rockwell Collins’ GPS 4000S and ProLine 21 or ProLine 4, and is DO260B certified for meeting the 2020 compliance date.
RUAG Aviation now owns the STC for ADS-B Out compliance, making it available at its Lugano and Geneva locations. The ADS-B Out is a precise satellite-based surveillance using GPS technology to broadcast an aircraft’s position, and other aircraft data, to other ADS-B capable aircraft and Air Traffic Control (ATC) centres.
Intent on supporting their Dassault Falcon 2000 and 2000EX customers in their efforts to comply with the update by 2020, RUAG Aviation investigated solutions for making a modification which would prove to be straightforward and affordable. “We are dedicated to ensuring our customers’ safe operations, as well as their continued airworthiness,” states Stephan Woodtli, General Manager Lugano, RUAG Aviation. He continues, “Equally, compliance with aviation authorities’ directives and the necessary adjustment of avionics systems should be part of a streamlined process, both in terms of minimal downtimes and budgetary interests. This is why we have developed this STC. It requires no invasive modifications, is economically responsible and can be implemented within a very fast downtime,” he confirms.
In fact, the avionics integrator recommends introducing the required upgrade during the aircraft’s next C check in order to optimise the downtime even further. “Aircraft availability is crucial to our customers’ success and we are firmly committed to supporting them in achieving that goal. Developing an STC that is able to save them both time and money is how we prove that commitment,” concludes Stephan Woodtli.
